I love the Crow Shaman miniature.

So I made a 4e Dungeons and Dragons character based off of it!

Somewhere in my mid-90s dungeons and Dragons gaming I became a miniature addict.   My friends and I would spend hours scouring local game stores for the perfect miniature for our player characters.   We never were satisfied with buying just one mini either.  This lead to creating more PCs, and miniature painting days, and returning to buy specific paints and more minis.   A vicious circle of awesome nerdity!

Today, I still buy a lot of minis (I went all plastic though.) and I still have a habit of getting inspired to create PCs based on the minis I really love.   I’m still looking for the perfect PC for the Goliath Mini from the Player’s Handbook Mini sets and I’m still hunting for a good Tiefling Mini (The Tiefling Necromancer is pretty close).

I modded this medium owlbear up for my Fey Beast Trainer Theme characters.

I’ve always been a sucker for playing Lycanthropes and I’ve done so in every edition.   Some of my favorite things about 4e were the Razorclaw Shifter (Yes, I know they were in 3e Eberron but not as cool.), level-1 shape changing druids, and now themes (Pack Outcast & Dead Rat Deserter)!

Neverwinter Capaign Guide incorporates werewolf packs in the story.

Recently I bought an impressive amount of unopened Dreamblade boosters for $2 each.  I came across this gem!

Right now I’m thinking about making an gothic-steampunk alchemist/artificer with the pack outcast theme to use him.

This got me thinking about how fun it is to use inspirations to create characters.   I was looking at the Dreamblade Gallery and nerding-out on all the things i could do with my newly acquired cheap mini jackpot.

I also recently started playing my hunter (PDF) again after adding  Brian Patterson – @d20monkey‘s finished art commission to his character sheet.

After DDXP I really wanted to level up my Dragonborn from Philippe A. Ménard @chattydm‘s great 0-level adventure Temple of the Weeping Goddess.

I often also re-imagine old PCs from other editions and games and convert them into the current edition.    I’ve taken Erasmus the vampire-hunting archer from Tom Martin’s @LichKingMetal Knights of the Silver Quill/Knights of Spellforge Keep Storyhour on ENWorld  into 4e but haven’t touched my favorite PC of all time, Sir Vek Mormont the Lich Cleric of Wee Jas quite yet.

So, I’m pretty sure I  know what insanity drives my character generation process.

Fey Beast Trainer is a new theme in which you can get a medium owlbear.

I decided to make my own mini!

I lobbed the head of of the Celestial Giant Owl and slapped it on a headless Cave Bear .

It was my first attempt at ever using Green Stuff but I wanted my OwlBear to be fat and spotted.  Almost WoW Moonkinish.

This is the final product!   (Wish the picture came out better.)
